The Queen of Tidy has done it again! Marie Kondo will soon premiere her first organizing product to complement the method and lifestyle that is KonMari. Available for pre-order the Hikidashi Box set not only gives your storage a mindful style upgrade, but encourages you to kickstart your tidying through a how-to KonMari tidying series sent directly to your inbox before your Hikidashi even arrives.

The inspiration for the Hikidashi Box set

Marie Kondo originally introduced the world to the KonMari Method through her New York Times best seller The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, that sold over 10 million copies in over 40 countries. Her companion book, Spark Joy, followed, and served as an illustrated master class that addressed frequently asked questions from eager “Konverts.” Marie spent hundreds of hours tidying American households and used simple shoe boxes to help her clients organize their joy-sparking items. While filming her highly anticipated Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, Marie found that keeping and reusing these boxes is a uniquely Japanese custom. She searched for ideal tidying boxes here in America, but couldn’t find any that brought her and her clients joy. Therefore, Marie was inspired to create a set of simple and beautiful boxes that could be used to bring order and encourage her clients to continue to choose joy.

KonMari inspired details

Hikidashi is the Japanese for “to draw out.” Each six piece set comes in three simply sophisticated tones of clay, sakura (pink), and parchment, with promises of seasonally inspired limited shades in the future. Hand selected by Marie Kondo, the boxes echo the recent KonMari brand refresh, lined with a subtle print or special quote selected by Kondo herself. Each interior print represents balance, clarity, wonder, or harmony and houses inspirational cards that contain messages of joy, KonMari Method steps, and tips on how to best use the boxes in your home. Here’s a sneak peek of the interior of the “Clarity” box set:

Marie took great care to ensure her boxes were constructed with both joy and environmental consciousness. Each box is composed using thick fiberboard, and topped with a laminated premium paper for additional durability. The entire box is made of 100% recycled content and FSC certified.
